I was my own first patient

I finished surgical training and had my twins in the same chapter of my life. And if I'm honest, I was running on empty.

I wasn't exercising, my cholesterol was high (which as a doctor I found equal parts ironic and humbling), and somewhere between motherhood and medicine I had quietly forgotten to fill my own cup. The frustrating part was that I knew what to do. I had the knowledge and the training. But knowing what to do and actually doing it, sustainably, in a real and chaotic life, are two completely different things.

So I went back to the biology. Applied it to myself first, one small change at a time across the things that actually move the needle: how I moved, how I ate, how I recovered and how much I was carrying. Something shifted. Not overnight, and not without a few false starts, but gradually and unmistakably.

I was my own first patient.

Then I looked up from my own life and saw the same thing everywhere in clinic. Capable, intelligent women doing so much and feeling so little. Women who needed someone to look at the whole picture and help them find their way back to themselves.

That is why The Capacity Code exists. And it is why I show up every day unreasonably passionate about this work.

Outside the clinic I am a mum of twins navigating the beautiful chaos of a blended family, a Hyrox competitor who trains at 5am because it is genuinely the only available time slot, and someone who is living proof that the framework I teach actually works in a real and imperfect life.

What's behind the framework

I hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, an International Board Certification in Lifestyle Medicine and additional training in nutrition, health coaching and the behavioural psychology of sustainable change. Before medicine I completed a science degree in physiology, which gave me a foundation in how the body actually works that I draw on every day.

I am a member and Fellowship Candidate of the Australian Society of Lifestyle Medicine, hold a Graduate Certificate in Breast Surgery and have completed further training in plant-based nutrition through eCornell University.
